Why Cremations Are Almost Always Better Than Burials

Posted on

No one likes to spend a lot of time thinking about the end of their life but it is important that you have planned for that occasion at some point. The last thing you want is to die unprepared and not have your actual wishes carried out once you pass away. For most people, there are two main options: burials or cremations. While in the past, burials were seen as the easy choice, this has slowly changed over the years to the point where cremations are becoming nearly as popular. Here are three reasons why choosing to be cremated is almost always better than a burial.

No Difference In Ceremony

Often people think that cremations come with a different sort of funeral process, but this is simply not the case. Cremations allow you exactly the same opportunity to host a funeral as cremations, with religious or non-religious options available. Funeral homes can host the ceremony at their site, or they can organise it at a nearby religious institution of your choice. It is only after the funeral that the differences start and the body is cremated instead of buried. But, for those who come to pay their respects, there is not a notable difference.

Cheaper In The Long Run

Most people don't care too much about what happens to their body after they die, especially after they are given some time to think about it. For those that remain, the cost of a burial can be a burden that is too much to bear, as plots can be several thousand dollars at the base price, and only go up from there. Cremations, however, do not cost nearly this much, and there is no ongoing cost that you have to keep up with, unlike with burials where you have to pay to keep the site properly maintained.

More Personal

Many people find cremations more attractive because the remains can be kept closer to the family than they can when you are buried. On the other hand, cremations also allow you to dispose of the remains in places of great significance to the departed, such as their favourite park, pond, beach and so on. Burials are very static, you can choose from a few different locations but it has to be a cemetery and you have to get a headstone and so on and so forth. In that regard, cremations are a lot more personal and unique, which is what attracts a lot of people to them.
