Faith-Based Cemetery Monument Options

Posted on

When you begin looking at your cemetery monument options, usually during pre-planning stages, you may look for faith-based options. The truth is, many people believe they can only get faith-based options that are simply a symbol somewhere on the monument. The truth is there are many faith-based options you may not have considered. Here are a few of the options and what to know about each option available to you.

Angel Monuments

If you are looking for a cemetery monument that offers a Christian value without using a cross, then an angel monument may be ideal. These monuments can be traditional angel figures over the marker or they can be more elaborate angel designs. For example, the Victorian weeping angel is a very popular option. It depicts the angel bent over the marker in mourning. This can be a large monument, but it can clearly display your faith and the feeling of those left behind after you have passed on.

Catholic Saints

You may be Catholic and want to display that in your cemetery monument. There are many monuments available that offer the views of different saints, with the most popular being the Virgin Mary and St. Micheal. These saints can be engraved into the monument. The saints can also be in the form of statues placed in the middle of the monuments or to the side. You can also choose to have solar lighting placed to light the statue and monument up during the night or dusk in the cemetery.

Eternal Light Monuments

A unique way to show your faith is to use the eternal light monument. An eternal life cemetery monument can be used for many faiths. The monument has a circle carved directly through the centre of the headstone. The circle will allow the sun through to shine light directly onto the cemetery plot and onto your grave. This can be a beautiful option that is easy to find and easy to have placed in most cemeteries.

If any of these designs sound like a faith-based cemetery monument option you would like, contact your monument contractor. You can also ask them what faith-based options they have available and how these options can be altered, if necessary, for your needs. If you have unique designs in mind, contact your contractor for a consultation to discuss what monuments are available and how to go about requesting them. Look around to see other cemetery monuments people have used.
